The program highlights institutions and informal systems that sustained Black life\, with connections to New York and Philadelphia.\n\nMwalim is a professor of English\, communication\, and Black studies at UMass Dartmouth. He also serves as assistant grand historian for the Prince Hall Grand Lodge of Massachusetts\, is a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity\, and is artistic director of Oversoul Theatre Collective Inc.\n\nThe event is free and open to the public.
