SUMMARY:Courage\, Perseverance\, and Trust: The Manjiro Story
DESCRIPTION:New Bedford Youth Ballet will perform its annual spring performance at New Bedford Ballet Community Theatre\, Sunday\, March 8\, at 1 p.m. and 2 p.m.\n\nThis original ballet shares the remarkable journey of Manjiro Nakahama. He was shipwrecked as a boy in 1841 and was rescued by the whaling ship John Howland and brought to Fairhaven by Capt. William Whitfield. Nakahama went on to bridge two cultures and help open trade between Japan and the United States.\n\nThe youth company is part of the New Bedford Ballet Foundation Inc.\, a nonprofit founded in 1987 that continues to bring classical ballet to local audiences.\n\nTickets are $20 for adults and $10 for seniors\, students\, and children. Details are available at newbedfordballet.org or 508-993-1387.
