The reading offers a mix of reflection and calm moments formed by nature. \nSylvia is the author of “None But Witches: Poems on Shakespeare’s Women\,” which won the 3 Mile Harbor Press Book Award. Her recent chapbook\, “My Little Book of Domestic Anxieties\,” was released in 2025\, with a new collection expected in 2026. She has received fellowships from the New York Public Library\, the West Chester University Poetry Center\, and the Longleaf Writers Conference. \nWallace is the poet laureate emeritus of Jersey City and a Marion native. Her work reflects more than 30 years of writing through illness. Her books include Days of Grace and Silence and Counting by Sevens\, with Keeping Room expected in 2026. Her essays have appeared in national outlets\, including Huffington Post and USA Today.

The situation brings tension and an uneasy reliance between them.\n\nEach performance includes a talkback with the playwright\, cast\, and creative team. Ardell developed the work over the past year under the guidance of mentors Tony Ferreira and Harvey Ussach.

A free bike check event on Saturday\, May 9\, from 9:30 a.m. to noon is a chance to get it tuned up after the winter months.\n\nVolunteers will be on hand to look bikes over and provide basic maintenance such as brake adjustments and chain lubrication. They can also offer advice on repairs that should be addressed before riding. Replacement parts\, including spokes and brake pads\, will not be available.\n\nCoffee and family-friendly games will be available while work is underway. Registration is recommended to reserve an arrival time\, though walk-ins are welcome as space allows.\n\nThe event will be canceled in the case of foul weather.

Marisa Biever serves as stage manager. Steve McManus is the technical director.\n\nTickets are $23 for members and $28 for nonmembers. Sales are nonrefundable. SUMMARY:MAC Theater Presents "The 39 Steps"
DESCRIPTION:MAC Theater will turn up the pace with a quick-change comedy thriller “The 39 Steps\,” running March 6-8\, 13-15\, and 20-22 at the Anne Braitmayer Webb Theater. Friday and Saturday performances begin at 7:30 p.m. Sunday matinees start at 2 p.m. John Heavey directs.\n\nThe show follows Richard Hannay\, an ordinary man swept into a spy plot and framed for murder. A small cast will play more than 150 characters\, often switching roles in seconds. The result is a playful take on Alfred Hitchcock’s classic thriller.\n\nCast includes Samantha Asker\, Marisa Biever\, Cynthia Johnson\, Jacob Matthew\, Rick Sherburne\, Donn Tyler\, Maura Barry Van Voris\, Jennie Williamson\, and Kerri Zhou. Marisa Biever serves as stage manager. Steve McManus is the technical director.\n\nTickets are $23 for members and $28 for nonmembers. Sales are nonrefundable. Date changes may be available with at least 48 hours’ notice\, based on availability.

DESCRIPTION:Last call to register for a workshop with artist George Summers Jr. “Keeping an Artist Journal from the Queer Perspective” on Saturday\, March 14\, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Marion Art Center. Lunch and basic supplies are included. Advance registration is required through the Marion Art Center website. \nBoston-based artist and educator George Summers Jr. leads this practical session exploring journaling and sketchbook practices as tools for imaginative expression and personal storytelling. Participants will experiment with writing\, sketching\, collage\, and mixed media while developing ways to document identity and lived experience through art. \nSummers has more than 35 years of experience in batik and textile arts. His work shows a career defined by the Boston arts community and his perspective as a gay artist. Materials and adhesives are provided. SUMMARY:Being Seen: Celebrating Pride in the SouthCoast
DESCRIPTION:DATMA presents “Being Seen: Celebrating SouthCoast Pride\,” a public art installation and exhibition honoring the LGBTQ+ community. \nAn opening celebration runs from 3 to 5 p.m. Saturday\, Feb. 14. Admission is free and open to the public. \nThe project debuted in June 2025 during New Bedford’s Pride Block Party and will travel to four SouthCoast communities through November 2026. Using upcycled textiles\, the work was led by New York–based artist and LGBTQ+ activist Liz Collins and created with help from more than 100 local residents and organizations. \nAn indoor gallery exhibition adds history and context. Featured work comes from LGBTQ+ artists selected through a community call for art. The exhibit also highlights the Pride movement and local figures\, including New Bedford resident David B. Boyce. \nOutdoor public art is on view beginning Jan. 12. The gallery exhibition runs Feb. 13 through March 13\, 2026. \n  \n
