The screening ties in with the gallery’s “Jesters & Fools” exhibition.\n\nDoors open at 6:30 p.m. The film begins at 7 p.m. Reservations are recommended but not required.\n\nAdmission is open to the public. A $5 donation is recommended\, but no one will be turned away for lack of funds. Refreshments will be available for purchase.\n\nThe film is directed by Robin Hardy. It follows a police sergeant investigating the disappearance of a young girl on a remote Scottish island. The cast includes Edward Woodward\, Christopher Lee\, and Britt Ekland.\n\nCinema 169 is supported in part by a grant from the New Bedford Cultural Council and the Massachusetts Cultural Council.

DESCRIPTION:Gallery X seeks submissions for “Queer Futures\,” a Pride Month exhibition exploring visions of the future. Themes include utopia\, queer sci-fi\, solarpunk\, Afro and Indigenous Futurism\, and personal hopes. Broad interpretations are welcome. Artists of all backgrounds may submit\, with encouragement for queer and BIPOC artists. Submissions are free. \nThe show runs May 6 through May 17. Participant should submit work during gallery hours or by appointment through May 17. Artists complete a submission form at drop-off. The exhibition is non-juried and open to all media. Wall pieces must be ready to hang. SUMMARY:Introduction to Playback Theatre: A form of storytelling and Improv
DESCRIPTION:The Introduction to Playback Theatre covers storytelling through improvisation. Sessions cost $15 to $30 with a sliding fee. \nThis four-week workshop introduces Playback Theatre as a way to spark creativity and build community. Participants learn how to transform personal stories into spontaneous scenes using movement\, music\, ritual\, and spoken improvisation. The process is based on listening\, sharing\, and bringing lived experiences to life. \nStories shape how people understand the world and one another. Recent years have challenged many communities. This workshop provides a place to play\, connect\, and reflect through shared storytelling. \nPlayback Theatre helps develop empathy\, intuition\, creativity\, and communication skills. It is used in a wide range of settings. The workshop is open to ages 16 and older. No theatre experience is required. Participants should wear loose clothing. \nThe group meets on Wednesdays in March on March 4\, 11\, 18\, and 25 in the Douglas Room at Gallery X.
