DESCRIPTION:AHA! Pride is Thursday\, June 11\, with music\, art\, dance\, and community events across downtown New Bedford. YMCA Southcoast sponsors the event.\n\n\nThe annual Pride Block Party features live performances\, craft vendors\, food trucks\, family activities\, and community art. More than 30 craft vendors and community partners will line Upper William Street from 5 to 8 p.m. Face painting\, aerial arts\, puppet theater performances\, mocktails\, food trucks\, and a live DJ set by Wamptronica are also planned.\n\n– Steeple Playhouse will host a drag show from 6 to 8 p.m. with Queens of the South Coast\, hosted by Crystal Diamonds and Phlegm Mignon. \n– A New Moon Dance Party follows from 8 to 9 p.m. \n\n– Gallery X will feature art exhibitions and a performance by Wicked Queer Puppet Theatre.\n\n– An after-party with DJ Chan starts at 8:30 p.m. at Bento’s Bar & Grill. \nThere will be multiple events and activities throughout downtown\, including: \nFree face painting at the library\, fairies from Ever After Storybook\, activities with 4H\, Sangha Yoga offers a free yoga class\, the Whaling Museum hosts EPIC Southcoast’s Balance & Swing Contradance\, the Fishing Heritage Center is celebrating its 10th anniversary with Sharks Come Cruisin’\, and the Art Museum has two new art exhibits opening plus a film screening. Night on Thursday\, May 14\, focuses on Preservation Celebration as part of ArtWeek SouthCoast. \nThe Nathan and Mary Polly Johnson House will open from 6 to 7:30 p.m. for docent-led tours focused on the home’s connection to Frederick and Anna Douglass and abolitionists Nathan and Mary Polly Johnson. \nDowntown events include self-guided walking tours\, art exhibits\, artist talks\, free museum admission\, live music\, and more. \nAt the library\, the annual wash and wax treatment of Bela Pratt’s Whaleman statue runs from 3 to 6 p.m. The library’s art curator will answer questions during the preservation process\, and some visitors may be able to help. \nFree AHA! docent tours begin at 5 and 5:30 p.m. from the Star Store welcome table.
