SUMMARY:Acushnet Complete Streets Pop-Up Event & Online Survey
DESCRIPTION:The Town of Acushnet is seeking public input on street safety and accessibility. A pop-up outreach event is scheduled for Tuesday\, Jan. 27\, from 2:30 to 7 p.m. at the Acushnet Public Library.\n\nOutreach supports the Acushnet Complete Streets Prioritization Plan. The plan will identify at least 15 potential improvement projects across town. Focus areas include sidewalks\, crosswalks\, bike lanes\, and intersections. Goals include safer and more comfortable travel for people who walk\, bike\, roll\, or drive.\n\nResidents can stop by the outreach table to share concerns about locations that feel unsafe or uncomfortable. Feedback will help guide future transportation improvements.\n\nThose unable to attend in person can complete an online survey. The survey is available at tinyurl.com/AcushnetCSPP.\n\nQuestions may be directed to Nicole Rogers\, project manager\, at nrogers@gpinet.com or 978 570 2985.

SUMMARY:SHIPWRECK! Horseneck Point Lifesaving Station & South Coast Rescuers
DESCRIPTION:Spinner Publications and Gay Gillespie will hold a talk and book signing on Saturday\, Dec. 6\, at 1 p.m. at the Acushnet Public Library. The program features “Shipwreck! Horseneck Point Lifesaving Station and South Coast Rescuers.” The book examines the history of local lifesavers who braved rough waters and worked to rescue stranded sailors. \nResearch for the project began with Gillespie’s husband\, Chip\, and family friend Howie Gifford. Both helped lead the restoration of Horseneck Point Station No. 69. Gillespie later gathered their work and approached Spinner Publications. She then invited Chip McGrath to write the book. \nThe event is free and open to the public. \nSupport for “Shipwreck!” came from the Westport Cultural Council Community Grants\, the Helen E. Ellis Charitable Trust\, Bank of America\, the Westport Community Gift Fund\, and the Buzzards Bay Coalition.
