SUMMARY:Women of '76: A Theatrical Tribute to Lesser Known Women of the American Revolution
DESCRIPTION:Step back in time with stories of five women connected to the American Revolution. The free program highlights both patriots and loyalists\, American and foreign-born. \nStories include a Massachusetts housewife who led an all-female militia to capture British spies\, a German baroness who followed her Hessian general husband into British camps\, and a Georgian farmer’s wife who faced a Redcoat search party alone. Their words and actions offer a personal look at the era. \nThis program receives support from the New Bedford Cultural Council\, with funding from the Mass Cultural Council\, and from the Friends of the New Bedford Free Public Library.
