SUMMARY:Annual Earth Day Clean Up in Freetown
DESCRIPTION:The Town of Freetown will hold its annual Earth Day Clean Up on Saturday\, April 11\, from 9 a.m. to noon. A rain date is set for April 12. Residents\, families\, civic groups\, and local businesses are encouraged to take part in the community effort. \nVolunteers should register in advance and choose a cleanup location. Participants will check in at assigned pickup points to receive cleanup kits and area maps before beginning work. \nA volunteer appreciation gathering will follow from noon to 1:30 p.m. at the Freetown Council on Aging\, 227 Chace Road in East Freetown. DESCRIPTION:Gardening with Native Plants with Mass Audubon will be held on Thursday\, April 9\, at 4 p.m. \nLearn how to transform your corner of the earth into an eco-friendly haven for native plants and wildlife. The agenda will cover ecosystems\, habitat resiliency\, climate change\, invasive species\, biodiversity\, and the ecological importance of human-managed landscapes. Students will learn to read your landscape and select and maintain plants for long-term ecosystem health. \nWhether starting a new garden or transitioning an existing space\, anyone can create a wildlife sanctuary at home or in their community. \nThe workshop is part of Project Planet AHA and is free.
