It will be held rain or shine.\n\nParticipants may bring up to two standard-size boxes of confidential documents\, including bank statements\, medical records\, and old tax forms. Paper clips and staples may remain\, but remove folders and binders.  Previously shredded paper will not be accepted\n\nNo residency is required. Because the shredding truck may fill before 11 a.m.\, organizers recommend arriving by 10:45 a.m.

DESCRIPTION:Household Hazardous Waste Drop-Off Day is scheduled for Saturday\, August 29\, from 8:30 a.m. to noon at the Crapo Hill Landfill. Open to residents of Dartmouth\, New Bedford\, and Freetown\, with proof of residency required. Rain or shine. \nRegistration is required. Select an online time slot and arrive close to that time to minimize wait time. \nAccepted items include oil-based paints\, paint thinner\, pesticides\, herbicides\, old gasoline\, pool chemicals\, and household cleaners. \nLatex paint is not accepted. Let it dry out and place it in regular trash if it cannot be reused. Empty containers are not accepted. \nDo not bring items accepted at local transfer stations. These include antifreeze\, fluorescent bulbs\, motor oil\, propane tanks\, and TVs or computer monitors. \nLimit is 25 gallons or 50 pounds per household. No businesses\, schools\, or contractors. \nTraffic flows one way. Enter through the New Bedford Business Park at Phillips Road and Braley Road. SUMMARY:Knife Sharpening & Fabric Dyeing Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Fix It Forward is back on Tuesday\, April 28 from 6 to 8 p.m. at St. Andrew’s Church\, 169 Belleville Road in New Bedford. Registration is required.\n\nThe workshop teaches simple ways to repair and reuse at home. One session covers fabric dyeing\, with an introduction to natural and synthetic dyes. Attendees can bring a pre-washed clothing item or a small piece of fabric to try.\n\nA second session focuses on knife care and sharpening. Instruction includes how to sharpen kitchen knives and scissors\, along with tips for storage. Attendees can bring up to five items. Registration is not required.\n\nTwo knife sharpening kits will be given away.\n\nFix It Forward is a series centered on repair and reuse. The program is presented in partnership with the Greater New Bedford Regional Refuse Management District\, New Bedford Free Public Library\, and the city’s Department of Community Services. Support also comes in part from the Art is Everywhere grant through the city’s Arts\, Culture and Tourism Fund\, with facilitation by New Bedford Creative at the New Bedford Economic Development Council.
