DESCRIPTION:Dartmouth residents have several options for disposing of Christmas trees\, wreaths\, and holiday greenery after the season ends. \nReal Christmas Trees \nReal trees are chipped and reused as cover at the Crapo Hill Landfill. Trees must be free of ornaments\, lights\, stands\, tinsel\, and plastic bags.\n\nSMART Program participants may place trees curbside on their regular trash day during the weeks of Jan. 5 and Jan. 12. Collection begins at 7 a.m. Pickup may change due to the weather.\n\nTrees may also be dropped off at the brush area of the Department of Public Works and Water Pollution Control Facility at 759 Russells Mills Rd. A permit is required.\n\nThe site is open Monday\, Tuesday\, Thursday\, and Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 3:15 p.m.\, and Saturday from 7:30 a.m. to 2:45 p.m. The facility is closed on Wednesdays.\n\nArtificial Trees and Wreaths\nArtificial trees and wreaths may be reused\, shared\, or discarded.\n\nHoliday Collection Schedule\nThere will be no trash or recycling collection on Dec. 25\, 2025\, or Jan. 1\, 2026. The program includes Randall Thompson’s “Frostiana” and Aaron Copland’s “Simple Gifts\,” along with spirituals and Americana favorites such as “Down in the River” and “Oh Susannah.” A few sing-alongs are also planned. \nBrian Dean Sousa brings experience in performance and education. He holds degrees from Westminster Choir College and James Madison University. His background includes fourteen years as organist and choir master at Saint Thomas Aquinas Roman Catholic Church in Charlottesville. He now lives in North Dartmouth.

Some projects are completed in a single session\, while others unfold over multiple weeks to allow for layering and texture. \nProfessional-grade materials are used throughout the program. Each teen receives a personal set of acrylic paint brushes during the first week to use in the studio and keep. All supplies\, instruction\, and project finishes are included.
