DESCRIPTION:A free public talk on offshore wind research is planned for Wednesday\, May 6\, at 6 p.m. at the New Bedford Free Public Library.\n\nDavid Bidwell\, a University of Rhode Island professor\, will present findings from community discussions on offshore wind. Old Bedford Village Community Development Corp. is hosting.\n\nResults come from interviews\, surveys\, and workshops in New Bedford\, New London\, Conn.\, and Turner Station\, Maryland. Each city plays a role in offshore wind.\n\nResearch with Boston University and the University of Delaware examines community experiences\, priorities\, and concerns. It also explores ways to track the industry’s local impact.\n\nBidwell began research in New Bedford in 2024. His work focuses on how people respond to renewable energy.\nAn overview of offshore wind in the Northeast and New Bedford’s role is included. DESCRIPTION:WAREHAM — Damien’s Food Pantry provides food to residents of Bristol\, Plymouth and Barnstable counties on Thursdays and Saturdays from 8 a.m. to noon. \nIts mission is to help end hunger in the South Coast region of Massachusetts by providing food to individuals experiencing food insecurity\, promoting education and awareness about hunger in our community\, and providing information to our guests about other community resources. All are welcome. \nFirst-time visitors will need to provide information about their household. They are required to complete a short application\, show proof of residency\, and verify all occupants residing in the home. Verifications will be required annually. New applications are accepted Thursdays and Saturdays between 8-11:30 a.m. \nThe last shop of the day will start at 11:45 a.m.  Anyone arriving after 11:45 a.m. will receive a pre-packaged box of food. \nThe pantry will be closed Friday\, July 4- Monday\, July 7. \nThe organization makes food available to over 1\,200 households monthly.  If you or someone you know needs food\, please contact us.   The pantry is located at 242 Marion Road\, Wareham\, MA 02571.  Mailing Address: P.O. Box 730\, East Wareham\, MA 02538.  Phone: 508-295-3486 / Fax: 508-299-6582. \nVolunteers are often sought. If you are interested in becoming a volunteer\, please phone the pantry at: 508-295-3486 and leave your name and phone number or apply online here.  \nThe opportunities range from food distribution\, stocking shelves to data entry and translation services.  Volunteers who work the backroom should be able to lift 25 pounds. If you are unable to physically volunteer at the pantry\, but would still like to help\, we have opportunities for remote activities. \nHere is more information about volunteer opportunities.   \nThe pantry depends on financial support\, volunteers and food donations from individuals\, corporations\, agencies\, and foundations to help feed the hungry.  Donations are tax deductible.

DESCRIPTION:Anyone can blow into a harmonica. Playing along with real music takes skill. \nNew Bedford Arts and Cultural Emporium will hold a four-week harmonica class to help students get there. The fee is $80. \nSessions run March 5\, 12\, 19\, and 26 at Studio 260 inside Kilburn Mill. \nStudents will learn proper hand position\, embouchure\, basic rhythms\, and common chords. The instructor covers when to draw and when to blow. Students start playing along to popular songs right away. The course also explores special effects and how the harmonica fits into a band setting. \nClass promises a relaxed setting\, steady progress\, and plenty of hands-on practice.
