SUMMARY:LIFELONG LEARNING: Short-course in the History of Photography\, 1839–1900
DESCRIPTION:The New Bedford Whaling Museum will host a lifelong learning course on the history of photography from 1839 to 1900. \nThe program includes six weekly 80-minute virtual sessions starting March 9. It ends with an in-person workshop and curator-led tour on April 27 at the museum. \nSchedule: \n\nMarch 9 — Photography’s origins\, 1839\nMarch 16 — Competing technologies\nMarch 23 — Wet-Plate photography\nMarch 30 —World events: photography as documentary\nApril 6 — Art vs Industry: photography as medium\nApril 13 — Kodak and the introduction of Snapshot photography\nApril 27 — In-person workshop at NBWM / curator-led tour of “Look Pleasant Please”\n\nNaomi Slipp and Marina Dawn Wells will lead the course.
