Admission is free with museum entry.\n\nArtist Cândida Rose Baptista will appear alongside a screening of the 45-minute documentary Cândida\, directed by Rosalyn Negrón of the University of Massachusetts Boston. The film offers an intimate look at Baptista’s life and work\, tracing connections between Cape Verdean heritage\, music\, and community across generations.\n\nLive music by Baptista will follow the screening. Audience members can take part in a Q&A with the artist and filmmaker.\n\nDocumentary follows a second-generation Cape Verdean American singer\, songwriter\, author\, and educator as she returns to Cabo Verde to explore traditional music and its global influence. Journey takes her across the islands\, including Brava\, her ancestral home. Story blends personal history with cultural discovery. The film was an official selection of the New Bedford Film Festival and received a nomination for Best South Coast Narrative.

Musicians come from Greater Fall River and nearby communities in Massachusetts and Rhode Island. \nThe program includes Leichte Kavallerie by Franz von Suppé; Piano Concerto in D minor (1934) by Florence Price\, featuring pianist Janice Weber; and El Sombrero de tres Picos by Manuel de Falla. \nA highlight of the afternoon is Price’s piano concerto. Price was the first African American woman to gain national recognition as a symphonic composer and the first to have a work performed by a major orchestra.

DESCRIPTION:Residents without power in Dartmouth can head to a warming shelter on Tuesday\, Feb. 24.\n\nTown Administrator Cody Haddad and Emergency Management Director Tim Sheehan have opened the Dartmouth Council on Aging\, 628 Dartmouth St.\, as a heated shelter from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Feb. 24. Power outages are expected to last several days.\n\nResidents traveling to the shelter are exempt from the Bristol County travel ban. Anyone who needs a ride and cannot drive can call 508-999-4717 to arrange pickup.\n\nUpdates will be shared on the town’s official social media pages and at dartmouthma.gov. Call 508-999-4717 with questions about the shelter\, snow removal\, or other town services.\n\nTown officials thanked the community for its patience as crews work to restore power and improve road conditions.
