Each year\, a racially diverse ensemble of musicians from New Bedford and nearby towns comes together to perform. \nOrganizers aim to encourage reflection on racial realities and inspire a renewed commitment to a more just and equal America. Funds raised support the church and its social justice work. \nAkoma Ensemble returns with guest Candida Rose. Akoma presents original and traditional jazz grounded in African American heritage and shaped by global influences. Rose\, a Cabo Verdean from New Bedford\, studies and shares the transnational musical legacy of Cabo Verdean Americans. \nSupport comes in part from the New Bedford\, Dartmouth\, Mattapoisett\, and Acushnet cultural councils and the Mass Cultural Council.
