DESCRIPTION:Four free film screenings are planned through the Westport Cultural Council’s 2026 Summer Film Series. Support for the series comes from the Carol Vidal Cultural Fund. \nWeatherlow Farms will host the first three screenings. Doors open at 6 p.m. Films begin at 7 p.m. Refreshments will be available for purchase. \nThe series opens with “WBCN and the American Revolution” on Wednesday\, July 8. It reviews the influential Boston radio station and its effect on music and culture. Producer Rob Sennott will answer questions after the screening. \nA selection of award-winning short films from the Rhode Island International Film Festival will be shown on Wednesday\, July 22. Executive Director Shawn Quirk will emcee the event and lead a discussion following the films. \nSouth Coast Artists will join the council on Wednesday\, Aug. 12\, for a film about woodworker\, architect\, and furniture maker George Nakashima. The documentary explores his life and work. Filmmaker John Nakashima will participate in a Zoom question-and-answer session. \nOn Wednesday\, Sept. 25\, the series concludes with the Manhattan Short Film Festival. Audiences will view and vote on finalist films from around the world. Venue and time will be announced later. \nAll screenings are free and open to the public. Advance reservations are available. \n
