SUMMARY:Linoleum block-cut printing: non-press printing workshop
DESCRIPTION:This workshop is an introduction to the basic methods and procedures of linocut printmaking on Sunday\, Aug. 16 from 1 to 3:30 p.m. The fee is $55. \nStudents will begin with an original monochrome drawing and transfer a tracing onto a linoleum block. They will then hand-carve the image before applying ink and printing it onto paper. Each participant will complete an edition of four prints using nontoxic water-soluble inks. \nBefore the workshop\, the class should prepare a one-color or black-and-white image on paper measuring 4 by 6 inches. Images may be vertical or horizontal and can be a drawing\, photocopy\, or photograph. Students may bring more than one image\, and the instructor can help decide which will work best for the process. \nMaterials are included\, including a linoleum block\, cutters\, inks\, brayers\, rollers\, paper\, envelopes\, and other tools needed to complete the project.
