SUMMARY:Offshore Wind Community Discussion
DESCRIPTION:A free public talk on offshore wind research is planned for Wednesday\, May 6\, at 6 p.m. at the New Bedford Free Public Library.\n\nDavid Bidwell\, a University of Rhode Island professor\, will present findings from community discussions on offshore wind. Old Bedford Village Community Development Corp. is hosting.\n\nResults come from interviews\, surveys\, and workshops in New Bedford\, New London\, Conn.\, and Turner Station\, Maryland. Each city plays a role in offshore wind.\n\nResearch with Boston University and the University of Delaware examines community experiences\, priorities\, and concerns. It also explores ways to track the industry’s local impact.\n\nBidwell began research in New Bedford in 2024. His work focuses on how people respond to renewable energy.\nAn overview of offshore wind in the Northeast and New Bedford’s role is included.
