SUMMARY:Call For Art: Queer Futures
DESCRIPTION:Gallery X seeks submissions for “Queer Futures\,” a Pride Month exhibition exploring visions of the future. Themes include utopia\, queer sci-fi\, solarpunk\, Afro and Indigenous Futurism\, and personal hopes. Broad interpretations are welcome. Artists of all backgrounds may submit\, with encouragement for queer and BIPOC artists. Submissions are free. \nThe show runs May 6 through May 17. Participant should submit work during gallery hours or by appointment through May 17. Artists complete a submission form at drop-off. The exhibition is non-juried and open to all media. Wall pieces must be ready to hang. Pedestals are available for three-dimensional work. \nWorks may be available for purchase\, and Gallery X manages sales and takes a commission. \nOrganizers also invite local queer artists to contribute to a “Queer Futures” time capsule installation featuring imagined artifacts from 500 years in the future. \nArtists interested in the project are free to contact the curator\, Beatrice Alder\, at beatrice.g.alder@gmail.com for details.

DESCRIPTION:Gallery X is seeking submissions for “Soul Clap\,” a juried multimedia exhibition focused on the sound and cultural impact of Black music. \nThe show highlights musical traditions of the African Diaspora\, from West African rhythms to jazz\, hip-hop\, reggae\, and house\, and invites work that reflects themes of community\, resistance\, and joy. \nArtists may submit up to three works by May 1 at 11:59 p.m. A short bio and artwork details are required. DESCRIPTION:The Seaport Art Walk is seeking proposals for its 2026 outdoor exhibition in New Bedford. This year’s theme is “Good Trouble.” It takes its cue from the late U.S. Rep. John Lewis and the city’s longtime ties to activism. Artists can submit new or existing temporary sculptures\, murals\, or photography. \nExhibition dates run from July 9 through Oct. 31\, 2026\, along the waterfront and in the Seaport Cultural District.
