DESCRIPTION:Montanha Pico Festival is making room for New Bedford filmmakers. The festival’s initiative is accepting submissions through June 1 for its January 2027 event on Pico Island in the Azores.\n\nSelected filmmakers and producers will be notified by June 10\, giving participants time to plan for the Mid-Atlantic film gala. More than a dozen Portuguese filmmakers and media representatives have already confirmed attendance. The festival also includes the biennial Encontro Audiovisual Açoriano and the PAA Awards.\n\nApplications are also open for PRÉMIO CURTA PICO\, which awards up to €10\,000 in production funding for a short fiction project filmed on Pico Island.\n\nThe deadline is July 1. SUMMARY:Call For Art: Queer Futures
DESCRIPTION:Gallery X seeks submissions for “Queer Futures\,” a Pride Month exhibition exploring visions of the future. Themes include utopia\, queer sci-fi\, solarpunk\, Afro and Indigenous Futurism\, and personal hopes. Broad interpretations are welcome. Artists of all backgrounds may submit\, with encouragement for queer and BIPOC artists. Submissions are free. \nThe show runs May 6 through May 17. Participant should submit work during gallery hours or by appointment through May 17. Artists complete a submission form at drop-off. The exhibition is non-juried and open to all media. Wall pieces must be ready to hang. John Lewis and the city’s longtime ties to activism.
