The walk begins at the warming house near the pond and will be followed by refreshments. Organizers describe the event as a peaceful community gathering focused on hopefulness and sympathy\, with no signs or chants. All are welcome. \nThe downtown New Bedford meditation center promotes inner peace through Buddhist teachings and meditation practices. Organizers say the walk reflects the center’s belief that personal peace may help create a more peaceful world. Teachings at the center are based on the work of Geshe Kelsang Gyatso\, founder of the New Kadampa Tradition. \nFree registration is requested through the center’s website so organizers can plan for refreshments. Event T-shirts are also available for purchase online for $35.
