SUMMARY:Emma Kathleen Hepburn Ferrer: The Unicorn\, and Other Creatures of Hope exhibit
DESCRIPTION:UMass Dartmouth CVPA Campus Gallery presents Emma Kathleen Hepburn Ferrer’s first U.S. solo exhibition. The opening reception is Thursday\, Nov. 6\, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. An artist talk starts at 6 p.m. in Lecture Hall 153. Dr. Nina Levent and gallery director Viera Levitt will introduce Ferrer. Music faculty Jing Wang and Will Riley will perform. Light refreshments will be served. \nFerrer showcases the unicorn as a symbol of liberty\, purity\, and hope. Her work draws on “The Unicorn Tapestries” at The Met Cloisters and European myths. Paintings show the unicorn as a spiritual being and a figure of sovereignty and sacrifice. \nHer 2025 show “The Scapegoat” also explored ritual and the sacred. Works like The Annunciation of the Unicorn and The Chosen One universally reimagine biblical imagery.
