SUMMARY:Blue Heron in Flight
DESCRIPTION:Adriance Furnituremakers highlights work by local artisans in the Showroom Gallery. Each piece shows the maker’s style. Each one brings character to the space. \nJohn Magnan shifted to art after an early retirement from a technical career. The change led to studies at the Maryland Institute College of Art. Magnan later earned an MFA in sculpture from UMass Dartmouth. Solo exhibitions have appeared in several locations. Permanent installations stand in hospitals and public spaces. Magnan’s sculpture is also featured at the UMass School of Law. A national collaboration with Eli Lilly and Co. honors clinical trial participants through public art. \nShowroom open 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Friday. Phone number is 508-993-4800. \n A portion of this sale will be donated to Buzzards Bay Coalition to support efforts to protect the bay. \nAn online portfolio can be viewed at www.johnmagnan.com

This demonstration and conversation offers insight to the creation and production of a world-class ballet program\, including excerpts from BalletRI PURE DANCE. Three unique voices. One unforgettable journey through movement.

SUMMARY:Hand Building with Clay: Beyond the Wheel
DESCRIPTION:Hand Building with Clay: Beyond the Wheel is a four-week ceramics class. It runs Tuesdays\, April 21 through May 12\, from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Members: $210. Nonmembers: $235. \nThis class is a strong companion to wheel throwing. It also works as a standalone option. Hand building is slower\, more organic\, and highly expressive. Students work without the wheel and build new skills in form\, texture\, and surface design. \nStudents will make mugs\, plates\, and other functional items. They will also explore molds and hand-sculpted forms not possible on the wheel. The process allows for more detail\, decoration\, and experimental shapes. \nThis class is well-suited for beginners. It is also a good next step for wheel throwers. All materials are included.

SUMMARY:Black Theater with Community Workshop in New Bedford
DESCRIPTION:Oversoul Theatre Collective Inc.\, in partnership with 3rd Eye Unlimited\, is reviving community-based Black theater in New Bedford through Griot’s Corner\, a weekly workshop led by playwright and arts educator Mwalim. Actors\, spoken-word artists\, musicians\, and dancers from the city’s Black and Brown communities are invited to help form a new ensemble centered on cultural storytelling.\n\nProgram reconnects with “The Studio\,” a youth theater initiative launched in 1997 that helped mentor a generation of local artists. Oversoul’s roots trace to Boston’s New African Company\, founded in 1968\, and to a broader tradition of Black performance in the United States.\n\nWorkshops focus on improvisation and collaboration\, with participants developing an original piece to be presented in May.\n\nSessions are held on Tuesdays from 8 to 10 p.m.\, Feb. 10 through May 5\, at 3rd Eye Unlimited\, 230 Union St.\n\nParticipants should bring a notebook and wear comfortable clothing and sneakers.
