Wampanoag Lifeways with David Weeden

March 21 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

$15

Join the New Bedford Whaling Museum and David Weeden, Deputy of the Tribal Historic Preservation Department and a Mashpee Wampanoag Councilman, as he discusses ties between the Wampanoag Tribe and the museum’s recent exhibition, Re/Framing the View: Nineteenth-Century American Landscapes. Weeden will touch upon the current challenges facing the tribe, affirm a (thriving) presence in this region, and describe how the Mashpee Wampanoag act as custodians of culture, language, and the environment.

The reception will be catered by Sly Fox, the Charleston, RI eatery owned and operated by recent James Beard Award regional nominee Sherry Pocknett (Mashpee Wampanoag).
