Playback Theater: Storytelling in Action

October 29 @ 1:00 pm - 4:30 pm

$40 – $65

The skill-building introduction to Playback Theatre is hosted by artist and therapist Jennie Kristel from Journey Works . The 3-hour program is devoted to enhancing creativity and play as we form a community of storytellers in action. Using Playback Theatre as the core, participants will learn how to use applied theatre to transform personal stories told by workshop participants into spontaneous theatre pieces using movement, ritual, music, and spoken improvisation. Participants will share their stories and learn to bring these stories to life and learn the applications and settings for Playback Theatre.

Jennie Kristel, MA, REAT, APTT, RMT is an accredited Playback Theatre Trainer and Registered Expressive and is trained in multiple forms of improvisation theatre and personal storytelling. She teaches at Lesley University and internationally about the uses of Playback  Theatre, expressive arts, theatre games, and improvisation to support people in understanding their deeper stories, resolving conflict, and helping build community.

This workshop is recommended for adults: no theatre experience is needed. Preregistration is required. Please wear loose clothing.
