Offsite: A visual introduction between two cities

September 14 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Offsite is a photographic project connecting two cities: New Bedford, Massachusetts and Belleville, Michigan. In 2020, the EPA completed a 30+ year project to clean up water in the New Bedford harbor contaminated with human-made polychlorinated biephenyls (PCBs). This involved dredging material from the New Bedford harbor, filtering it down into transportable solids, and shipping these solids to an offsite facility. The offsite facility chosen is located in Belleville, Michigan.

Offsite follows the path of this material from the Acushnet River, where contaminated material was originally flushed into, to the area surrounding the facility in Belleville where that same material now sits. This is a photo project created by our current Artist in Residence, Calder Sell.
