Newsies, JR Musical Theatre Production

Stage Artistry Studios of New Bedford presents the Disney musical Newsies, JR, at Bristol Community College. This is the first production the studio is putting on, and it’s expected to be close to professional quality with kid actors (students at Stage Artistry Studios) from ages 4 to 18. Tickets are $20.
Newsies is a musical addressing social issues affecting many people historically and today. It presents accurate events surrounding the Children’s Crusade of 1899. This was when the newspaper boys, or Newsies of New York City, went on strike because of the unjust increase in the price of newspapers. Newsies serves as a reminder of the need to recognize and voice our concerns about social injustices in our world. It’s an energetic and inspirational story that demonstrates the importance of kids standing strong together to fight for what they believe in.
