Monday Movie Nights With Mocha: An Autumn Afternoon
May 1 @ 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Regarded as one of the most influential filmmakers in the world, Yasujiro Ozu is known for his elliptical storytelling and human-centered perspective. “An Autumn Afternoon” is the Tokyo-born artist’s final masterpiece, an elegantly composed and achingly tender story about a man’s dignified resignation to life’s shifting currents and society’s modernization.
Film is fleeting; 24 frames a second flash before our eyes (or 30 scans a second for video). The entire medium connects to Ukiyo-e and “pictures of the floating world,” making it all the more appropriate for NBAM’s “Enchanted Evenings Film Program” to inaugurate with the museum’s Ukiyo-e exhibition.
Japanese snacks are included with the $5 admission.
