September 18 @ 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm

In honor of International Underground Railroad Month, the New Bedford Historical Society will host Ilyon Woo, author of “Master Slave Husband Wife.”  This book chronicles the true story of an escape on the Underground Railroad in 1848. “Master Slave Husband Wife”shares the story of Ellen and William Craft who embarked on one of the boldest self-emancipation feats in American History. Their escape was a dangerous and a monumental feat of courage. The Crafts traveled 1,000 miles for freedom and to live their lives as husband and wife freely.
