Hetty Green: Where is Hetty’s Money Now?

August 27 @ 1:00 pm

New Bedford’s Hetty Green will share her extraordinary life as one of the first successful women on Wall Street. A century ago, Mrs. Green, a whaling heiress, and brilliant financier, was recognized as the wealthiest woman in America.

Between $100,000,000 and $200,000,000 of Mrs. Green’s money was left for her children Ned and Sylvia in 1916. Today, there is not a cent left. What happened to Hetty’s famous wealth in 1950 when Sylvia signed her own will?

Hetty will meet the public at the New Bedford Whaling National Historical Park on the last Sunday of June through September.
