On Sunday, July 24, a Hetty Green re-enactor at the New Bedford Whaling National Historical Park will present a free event.
Friends and Foes: Certainly, there were more foes than friends as Hetty refused to go along to get along and continued her successful ways to become the richest woman in America. Along the way, her peers, an abundance of journalists and unknown numbers of every day people who were curious and, perhaps, jealous, spread exaggerated, half true and untrue rumors leading to her legacy as “The Witch of Wall Street”.
