Friend of Otto Frank to Speak at UMass Dartmouth
May 21 @ 2:00 pm
Ryan Cooper — a friend and correspondent of Anne Frank’s father, Otto Frank — will speak at UMass Dartmouth’s annual Claire T. Carney Library Associates meeting on Sunday, May 21, at 2 p.m.
The presentation, which is free and open to the public, will be held in the UMass Dartmouth Marketplace (the former campus cafeteria across from the Campus Center.) Parking is available in lot 5.
Cooper struck up a correspondence with Frank during a period of self-discovery while living in California during his 20s.
Over the years, the two became friends, and Otto Frank’s optimism inspired Cooper in the face of hardship. Their friendship continued through letters and several visits until Otto Frank died in 1980.
In February 2021, Cooper published a book titled “We Never Said Goodbye,’’ featuring some of his letters and memories of Otto Frank.
A question-and-answer session, book signing, and refreshments will be held after the presentation.
