Forging Independence | Building a Nation exhibit

Opening Dec. 1, 2025, Forging Independence explores key events in the South Coast region during and after the American Revolution, from 1760 to 1830.

The exhibition highlights moments such as the Boston Tea Party, Grey’s Raid, the burning of Bedford Village, and the Bombardment of Fairhaven. It emphasizes an inclusive view of early America, centering the experiences of women, Indigenous people, immigrants, Black residents, and Loyalists.

“Forging Independence” will become part of the museum’s (open daily: 9:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.) permanent collection.
