FABRIC Arts Festival: Tropical Anthology – Dinner Performance
October 5 @ 7:00 pm$100
Hosted at Providence’s Courtland Club, guests will experience an evening of food, song, and poetry revolving around fruit, plants, spices, and edibles from tropical latitudes, including the pineapple (piña). Brazilian-born artist/chef Caiquet Tizzi examines how foods indigenous to the Americas were transformed into ciphers of colonialism and the commodity exchange between imperial outposts. In other words, food becomes a medium or lens to understand these intertwined pasts, creating a sensual experience that grasps both their culinary and geopolitical complexities.
This is a ticketed event with limited capacity.
The annual FABRIC Arts Festival returns on October 5–14, featuring a series of music concerts, art exhibitions, public art, dinners, and educational workshops in Fall River, New Bedford, and Providence.
