Common Ground: Community Story
September 1, 2023 - September 8, 2024

Since 2018, the Museum has been engaged in an extensive oral history project called “Common Ground.” If you have not already, we need you to participate in this ground-breaking project.
The project aims to create a complete picture of the SouthCoast region and its residents through story collection. A key goal of the project is to give voice to community members by recording what makes the SouthCoast special for them.
The Museum is creating an archive of oral histories, which will be accessioned into the New Bedford Whaling Museum’s permanent collection.
To contribute a story visit the NBWM’s Mobile Recording Station at the Dartmouth Public Library North Branch.
Participants can also visit the Common Ground: Community Stories website to record a story with any device.
