Christopher Volpe: Loomings Exhibit
December 11, 2021 - May 8, 2022
Christopher Volpe‘s Loomings exhibit is on view in the Braitmayer Family Gallery in the New Bedford Whaling Museum. Named after the first chapter of Moby Dick, all of the tar, oil paint, and gold leaf paintings in Volpe’s collection allude to the classic novel. The artist’s collection suggests disquieting parallels between today’s oil-driven industrial age and Herman Melville’s dark depictions of the 19th century.
