Capturing Seaweed and More with Sunprints

July 13 @ 2:00 pm - 3:30 pm

Anna Atkins (1799-1871) was one of the first photographers to capture the magic of seaweed, as highlighted in the exhibition Cultures of Seaweed. After the invention of photography in 1839, Atkins created the first photo book by photographing seaweed specimens flat against sheets of cyanotype paper. This workshop invites participants to develop “photographic drawings” based on her seaweed illustrations.
