Artist Talk: Cody Oliveira-Gingras

Cody Oliveira-Gingras will give a presentation about his work featured in the Emerging Figures exhibition.
A recent graduate of the University of Massachusetts, Dartmouth, Cody Oliveira-Gingras, is a multimedia artist practicing in South Coast, MA. He specializes in oil painting, illustration, and portraiture and is interested in tattooing.
Cody’s work in the Emerging Figures exhibition explores the deification of human subjects, mythology, and devotional images. Mystery and solitude play an integral role in informing his creative endeavors.
An avid reader and student of the great masters of art history, Cody is influenced by legendary painters such as Gustave Moreau and Odilon Redon. He also draws inspiration from the youthful electricity of Egon Schiele and Jean-Michel Basquiat. With works spanning from abstract and figurative, to symbolism, to a mix of all three, there is something evolutionary and explosive emerging from Cody’s expression, intending to leave a lasting impression on his viewers.
