Abolition Row Park Opening
June 23 @ 1:00 pm

The New Bedford Historical Society and the City of New Bedford will celebrate the opening of Abolition Row Park on Seventh and Spring Streets. The park commemorates the legacy of New Bedford’s role in the Underground Railroad. It also honors the men and women who supported democracy and freedom through their actions of resistance against federal law establishing slavery. This new space is a historic district for residents and tourists to learn more about New Bedford’s history. The event will conclude with the unveiling of the Douglass Memorial statue and a reception at the Friends Meeting House.
